So I had an 'Oh Crap' moment today playing Halo 2. I just got a new copy, since my original has been horrendously scratched for some time now. I had done most of the Campaign and I felt like screwing around in Multiplayer, and I went to Midship which is my favorite map.

Turns out the level Midship takes place on a ship called the Pious Inquisitor.

I named the Brute vessel in TLC Memories - 2 the Pious Inquisitor.



It's described as both 'luxurious' and 'one of the fastest ships in the Covenant fleet,' neither of which described a Brute Destroyer in any way.

So...either I've kept the latent memory of a short description of a Halo 2 map in my brain box all these years and it bubbled to the surface while I was writing like a yak skeleton in the La Brea tar pits, or I am just as good as coming up with kick-awesome religious nonsense names as Bungie is?

Anyway...I've renamed it to 'Begotten Angel', which is apparently what they were going to name the ship Midship is on. Whacky, huh? So if I ever mention that ship again (highly unlikely) you'll know it's changed names.

Anyway...QUIZ THYME. AGAIN.

1) All right, introduce me. Who are these friends?

Uh...I'll just to Benkman and Darcy. From FFTA2. More relevant than Odie and Dante (who?) and I didn't feel like doing Xer'xes and Zyz'zorex.

2) Very nice. How old are they?

Darcy is 32. Benkman is 56, or approximately 19 in 'human years'.

3) How did these two meet?

They were in a clan together, and were the only two to survive an ambush in Jagd Dorsa (except Johannes but he's not a part of this meme).

4) Interesting! Now, what kind of relationship do they have?

Benkman is the calming yin to Darcy's wild and uber-manly yang. Darcy gets aggravated with him sometimes or make fun of him most of the time, but Benkman will only react with mild disapproval at worst. Darcy is too loyal to leave him hanging in a serious situation though.

5) What is something they like about each other?

Benkman admires Darcy's loyalty and courage, as well as his strength - physical and emotional. If Darcy admires anything about Benkman it's probably his unflappable sense of forgiveness and ability to just keep going even when everything's against him as if he doesn't have a care in the world.

6) What is something that they can't STAND about each other?

Darcy drinks too much for Benkman's taste, and also constantly puts him down in small ways. Benkman is too flighty and clumsy and useless for Darcy, so he usually just considers him a liability.

7) Is there any sexual tension between them?

No. What kind of question is this? Ugh, I should have done Leffes and Fi'iel...then this question could have been about hawt lesbian smexings (even though they're not lesbians...or friends really, for that matter).

8) What's an activity that they like to do together?

Not really. Fighting maybe, but then Darcy will usually tell Benkman that he's doing something wrong. Benkman doesn't drink, and that's basically all Darcy does outside of clan life.

9) These friends enter into the Olympics!! What events do they participate in on their own? What about together?

Darcy does shot put, long jump, pole vault, boxing, wrestling, racing? Benkman does...chess. Or Olympic tea drinking. Together they'd play hockey? I dunno.

10) Would the first friend speak at the second's funeral? If so, what would he/she say?

Which one is the first? Darcy would say a few words - they've been through too much together. Benkman would do an over-the-top but completely irrelevant and rambling speech.

11) Quick! Pick a song that describes their friendship!

I dunno, I usually pick Boffyflow and Spike for these friendship dealies, but it fits better with Dante and Odie (who I did not do in this meme). I guess something Benkman wrote - he writes themes on the violin for people behind their backs. I guess he has one for him and Darcy.

13) When did these two know that they were going to be friends?

I should have picked better friends.
